Detailed Itinerary of the 3 Days Gorilla Trekking 4x4 Self drive Uganda safari

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast at your lodge in Entebbe or Kampala, you will meet your private safari guide and he will brief you about your trip. You can interact, ask him anything you want to know about the trip since he will accompany you for the next two days.

Embark on your 9 to 10 hours road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will stop at the equator at Kayabwe to witness a water experiment, take pictures and take a lunch break in Mbarara. After lunch, you will continue your scenic drive to the Rushaga region of Bwindi and check in at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge or Trekkers Tavern Lodge. Upon arrival, relax, enjoy a delicious dinner, and have a great night.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Experience

Start your day with an early breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing session about the dos and don’ts while gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will join a group of 7 other visitors and then be led in to the forest by an expert guide and armed rangers for your safety.

Searching for the gorillas in the wild can take between 2 and 6 hours but after finding them, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour to be in their presence. You will see them playing, feeding and grooming and take pictures as many as you can. Later, you will return to the headquarters to pick up your gorilla trekking certificate that confirms a successful gorilla trekking adventure and return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will embark on a cultural experience with the Batwa community. They are said to have lived in this forest for thousands of years before being evicted for the conservation of the forest. You will learn about their culture and way of life after which return to the lodge and relax.

Day 3: Departure
